An Open Door

Jesus is the key that unlocks our freedom from sin, the power of the devil, and death. We can have new life and existence in Jesus when we hear the message about Christ and believe!

Our Heavenly Father orchestrates our freedom. When we believe in the message about Christ and do what Jesus says, God transfers us from one kingdom —the kingdom of darkness, where Satan is the ruler —and places us in the Kingdom of His dear Son, Jesus Christ.

Artwork of a black room with open door and through the doorway a glorious sun with a upright cross.
God sent His Son to die on the cross to free us from sin, Satan, and darkness. Jesus came to take the power of death away from the Devil. Jesus holds the keys to our freedom and new life (Hebrews 2:14).

For forty years, I had never heard the message about Christ. I was lost, trying to find significance, believing Salvation came through infant baptism. But when Satan and his powers of evil tested my faith, I realized I had never been a Christian. Jesus holds the keys to death and hell; only He can free us from our chains by faith in Him (Revelation 1:18).

Leaving This Room is my first worship album honoring the freedom and new life Jesus has granted to me. “I’m in You, Jesus. You’re in me, Jesus. Let me receive Your love” (Wake O Sleeper, Track 10).

Leaving This Room

Freedom in Christ Tour

In November 2005, Leo and I packed up our three children, and I toured across the United States with a band promoting this album and testifying to what Jesus had done for me. I was so new in the faith and didn’t know America at all. But it was by faith that I kicked away my fears and obediently went despite the cost and hardships. Never did I dream that the Lord Jesus would ask me to leave my country. Today, I reside in San Diego, the place where our tour ended. Those small steps of obedience led to bigger ones as my faith grew with my relationship with the Lord Jesus.

Leaving This Room – The Song

This song, “Leaving this Room,” has enormous significance to me. It was the song I had just finished recording when an evil man entered my life and became my music manager. I was giving up singing, and he met me at my last performance.

I had cried out to know the meaning of life, and the devil sent him to stop God from answering my desire to know the truth – and know why it was so hard to have true love in this world. I had written this song about my mother, thinking she was responsible for the brokenness I felt because of her cruel, mean words that I was trying to leave behind. God is love, and I needed His love to heal my heart and make me a new person, whole and complete in Him, which I have found in knowing Jesus as my Lord.

After Jesus rescued me from this man’s magic and spells, I added the lyrics, “Now God’s truth that He’s provided,” to the chorus to complete the picture and significance of this song.

We are all in darkness and under the powers of Satan, prevented from knowing the truth. But Jesus breaks our chains and sets us free. Today, I have truly left that room, and Christ has restored my soul with His love, mercy, and redemption.
