“Stay Free” is a collection of musical styles, featuring acoustic worship, modern hymns, anthems of praise, and acoustic pop rock and indie folk pop in Contemporary Christian Worship.

The album follows “Nothing Less than All of My Heart” and was recorded and produced in San Diego. It was after the Lord Jesus asked Leo and me to sell our 80-acre property in South Australia and move to California with our three daughters. We didn’t really know anything much about this place. It was extremely challenging to obey, and it took great faith and trust that the Lord would look after me.

The message the Lord continued to give Leo and me was to stay free when we first arrived in this foreign land. It seems fitting that my first album, recorded in our rental home in San Diego, is called “Stay Free” when I wrote the song in Australia. But we are not to forget the gospel and our purpose and what Jesus first taught us- no matter what soil our feet stand on. For Christ and God’s Word are universal and triumph over any culture, tradition, or people’s ideas.

Album Cover Significance

We are to look up to the heavens to where Jesus is. He rose from the dead and is now seated in all authority and power. And we will become like tall, strong sequoia trees in this world when we keep our eyes on Him.
The Lord Jesus gave me this vision of a tall tree with the perspective of looking up its trunk as if looking up to where its strength resides. I’ve been to Sequoia National Park in California. They are truly spectacular. But even these magnificent trees will die; bushfires have even taken some. They are not indestructible like Christ, who is in us who believe. We will live on, and the message of this album is to “Stay Free.” We cannot lose our Salvation over petty and insignificant things, though the devil is fierce in his efforts.
