For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake His faithful one.”
Psalm 37:28
Jesus made this same promise to His disciples,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
MATTHEW 28:10-20 NIV
They were His faithful ones, those that endured with Him through His trials. They had not turned back or left. They had left all to follow and learn from Christ. It led them to the cross and His death and scattering. But they were reunited by His resurrection from the dead, just as Jesus had tried to explain to them and promised.
We can trust Jesus, but His reward is with His faithful ones. Those who have left all to follow the Creator of life and who never turn back from their destiny with Him. Are you being faithful? This promise in Psalm 37:28, and in Matthew 28:18-20 only applies to those who are. We are to partner in the gospel, and in becoming teachers and spreading the word. It will mean great temptations, persecutions, and suffering, but the reward will be everlasting life. “Those who endure to the end will be saved,” Jesus proclaimed. (Matthew 24:13) This enduring and faithfulness is our freedom, being united with Christ, filled with His Spirit, doing His work, and being wise.
