“Stand on the side of what is good” – Romans 12:9. It doesn’t matter how you “swing the cat,” there is nothing good about Halloween!
Many churches hold trick-and-treat events. But it’s all rooted in the legend of witches and warlocks, goblins and thieves, evil spirits, and demons – all of which sent Jesus to the cross. The Devil, the prince of darkness, entered a man, Judas, to do what he desired – nail the Son of God, Jesus, to a tree in the hope of getting rid of Him.
“Whoever is not with me is against me,” Jesus said, scattering His sheep and driving them away.
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters” (Matthew 12:30 NIV)
Jeremiah the prophet also warned of Shepherds and leaders doing the same thing in Jeremiah 23:1: “Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the LORD.”
I hate Halloween because it is not for Jesus, despite its inclusion in many churches and assemblies.
I’ve tried to explain this view before but with no effect. But I think from someone whom Jesus delivered from demon-possession who knows the demonic world and its tricks and schemes and face of the Devil, his servants, and demons – I should know!
Jesus has shown me that Judas sat at His table, and what was in his heart was not pure. He allowed the Devil to take a stand in him. Are you doing anything different by provoking jealousy aligned with such a debased tradition? I think not. Creeping and crawling creatures were found in the hearts of the leaders in the Jewish temple in Ezekiel Chapter 8. And today, I fear they have entered the hearts of many Pastors and leaders of churches across the United States and, I fear, other countries as well. Let us not be like them but serve the Lord with fear and reverence. The grace Jesus preached was clear – “come away” out of your sins, out of the demonic, fear, and death, and serve only Me! (Revelation 18:4)
You cannot share the altar of your heart or your mantle sills in your homes with creatures you think might only be excused as fantasy! Unfortunately, you have forgotten we do not wrestle with flesh and blood. Our enemy, the Devil and his army and warriors of demons and evil spirits, are active in the hearts of children, in the media, in traditions and functions, all disguising themselves as a harmless “Boo” or a witch and a harmless ghost of fairy tales that most think cannot harm them or take place in their heart and homes. What a terrible day when they reveal themselves as so much more – an enemy you cannot slay without the blood of Christ as your warrior and friend.
